Organizing conventions is not the easiest of tasks and certainly not everybody’s cup of tea. Many professionals, no matter what their professional field is, never get the opportunity to contribute to the organization of such events, or simply never get around to it. The result is that there are only a limited number of people in the convention world with the required experience and expertise. Also, most people who have had the privilege to organize a convention, have often tasted this privilege only once.

Groningen Convention Bureau, portal to the Northern convention region, wants to preserve and bundle the experiences of these privileged people and founded an advisory board in 1997 – the Ubbo Emmius Colleghie. To create some order and signage in the northern convention world – which many still (undeservedly) experience as a country of the blind – the coordinates of those who have a rich experience in it have been gathered here.

Below you will a list of experienced people who have had a taste of organizing an international conference. They all had this experience in the past five years. The board has a rule that, to be on the list, someone has to initiate a new international convention within this period, or has to be working on plans for a new convention.

Please feel free to utilize the know-how and expertise of these members, so you do not have to enter the apparent country of the blind as a one-eyed king.
