The Remonstrant church is an excellent and versatile venue for conferences, meetings, symposiums, dinners, debates and lectures. It is also very suitable for concerts and exhibitions. The main hall of the church is airy, light and spacious and equipped with modern technical facilities. There are also six well-appointed meeting rooms of various sizes.
The Remonstrant church was built in 1883 and it was completely renovated by the Japanese architect Moriko Kira in 2005.
Now the combination of two modern meeting rooms in the church and four rooms in what was formerly the verger’s house forms an attractive venue for small conferences, symposiums and corporate training sessions. Of course the smaller rooms may also be hired separately for meetings, workshops and seminars that require less space.
The Remonstrant church is situated in the centre of the city of Groningen. It is easily accessible by car or public transit and is just a two minute walk from the central train station and within walking distance of two underground car parks.
Church hall
The spacious church hall is the heart of the building. Its contemporary design and light and airy character give it a peaceful atmosphere. The room holds up to 180 people in theatre style setup.
Meeting rooms
The Remonstrant Church also has six well-appointed meeting rooms, two in the church building and four in the adjoining verger’s house. These rooms vary in size from 18 to 45 m2 and each has its own unique atmosphere. The two meeting rooms in the church (the Hemelkamer and the Tempel-Zwartsenbergkamer) are decorated in the same contemporary style as the central church hall. The four other meeting rooms in the verger’s house have been restored to their former glory and combine authentic furnishings with contemporary designer furniture. Of course all the rooms are equipped with every modern amenity.
